CAMP WEEKENDS

First Camp will be held from September 19th – 21st at Camp Cedarwood.

Second Camp will be held from October 3rd – 5th at Camp Cedarwood.

It is with great pleasure that the EastMan Youth Choir welcomes Ed and Millie Hildebrand as this year’s EMYC Directors!

Ed Hildebrand occupied the director’s chair at the Steinbach Regional Secondary School for decades before launching a post-retirement career overseas. He has been involved with choral music across Canada and into Europe with choir tours, guest conducting stints and adjudication postings. Ed’s recent position includes choirs, guitar ensembles and musical composition at the AISB in Romania. His work there has taken him to London, Warsaw, Moscow and Budapest.

Millie Hildebrand is familiar to Manitoba music educators as a choral clinician, voice instructor and festival adjudicator, and for her involvement in countless organizations promoting and developing music for young people. Millie formerly taught in the Mitchell school’s music programs, and has fond memories of her years as director of the Steinbach Youth Chorus, some of who are members of this year’s EMYC.

Since July of 2006, Ed and Millie have been teaching at the American International School of Bucharest. While there, they took the opportunity to sample the sights and sounds of many countries besides Romania.

We are very excited that they are returning to Steinbach, and have agreed to co-direct the 2008 Eastman Youth Choir!

The Eastman Youth Choir was formed in 1989 to provide a high quality choral experience for Senior High students from the eastern Manitoba region. Members have the opportunity to develop their skills and talents in an intensive choral setting. Applicants are selected from Grade 10, 11 and 12 students.

New Members: Will be auditioned in Steinbach during exam week in June.

Returning Members: May be contacted if a re-audition is required.

Applicants will be notified of acceptance promptly. All correspondence will be done by email, unless you indicate otherwise.
