


Choral Ensembles 2011LocationSturgeon Creek United Church, 207 Thompson Drive map FormatFollowing their scheduled warm-up, choirs perform selections of their own choice. Performances should take up not more than half of the allotted time (see below). It is recommended that Early Years choirs sing 2-3 songs; all others sing 3 songs. After performing, choirs are provided with an onstage adjudication. At this time, a keepsake photograph is taken by a professional photographer. This is followed by a clinic with a second adjudicator or clinician in another location. Two original copies of each piece must be provided to the registration desk upon arrival. Unauthorized photocopies will not be accepted. Pianos and risers (3 steps, 4 rows) will be provided. Photos will be printed on-site and available immediately after each choir's clinic. Choirs should arrive with their picture pose planned and their order forms ready. Early Years School ChoirsAdjudicators: Mark Bartel (Wichita, Kansas) For each component (warm-up, performance/adjudication and clinic), Early Years (Elementary School) choirs are allotted 20 minutes. Middle Years School ChoirsAdjudicators: Mark Bartel (Wichita, Kansas) For each component (warm-up, performance/adjudication and clinic), Middle Years (Junior High) School choirs are allotted 30 minutes. Senior Years School, Community and Church ChoirsAdjudicators: Bruce Cable (Edmonton AB), Christina Murray (Halifax NS), Catherine Robbins (Winnipeg) For each component (warm-up, performance/adjudication and clinic), Senior Years (Secondary) School choirs are allotted 30 minutes.. Additional choirs under the same director in the same school are $10 less. Vocal Jazz Ensembles are $30 less. MCA Membership Fees
MusicFest CanadaAlthough ChoralFest is non-competitive, adjudicators may recommend choirs to represent Manitoba at the national festival, MusicFest Canada. |
