Prairie Voices is excited as always to invite new singers to audition for our award-winning community choir.
Singers will be required to bring the following:
- 1 song of your choice (We really want to hear your voice and see your style/energy) of any style or range you chose.
- 3 copies of music to your song selection (photocopies accepted)
- Locus Iste bars 1-20. This sheet music is in public domain, and can be downloaded here as well as a midi recording here.
- Be prepared to sing your voice part on the syllable “doo”. The other parts will be sung with you in a quartet. If you are unsure of you voice part, please chose the line that feels most comfortable for you to sing.
- Be prepared for range tests, sight-singing tests, and sing back tests
- A name and contact information for a musical reference (i.e. School music teacher, voice teacher, etc.)
An accompanist will be provided if needed for your song

After great success last year, Prairie Voices is happy to announce 'Guest Night' as an annual event! On April 5th we will be hosting an open rehearsal where interested singers can participate in a Prairie Voices rehearsal. All singers are invited to attend. No preparation is necessary, and all skill levels are welcome!
Teachers, if any of your choristers will be between the ages of 18-25 next year and would be interested in singing in Prairie Voices, we would like to invite them to attend. We are also happy to offer an information packet, including two short videos, song samples and a document of frequently asked questions, which should provide choristers with a better understanding of our ensemble. If you would like a copy of this packet, please contact info@prairievoices.ca and we will arrange to send one to you as soon as possible.

For Girls who like to sing and have fun!
The 14th of September is the first practice at St. Georges church located at Grovenor St. and Wilton St. in Winnipeg.
The 2009-2010 season for the Winnipeg Girls Choir is about to get underway and we are looking for new Choristers! Being a part of this choir is fun. Our girls sing music from around the world --- singing these songs in different styles and traditions.
If you are between the ages of 10 to 18 and love to sing this choir has a place for you. The Winnipeg girls choir participates in the Winnipeg Choral Fest, the Winnipeg Music Festival, and many other public singing engagements throughout the school year.
The choir meets:
- Monday nights from 6:30 to 8:00 PM
St. Georges Church Grovenor Avenue and Wilton Street, Winnipeg

Rainbow Harmony Project is a voluntary, not-for-profit community chorus incorporated to provide an opportunity for people who are gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, two-spirit and their friends to sing together. The primary purpose of the organization is to promote musical excellence in performance.
All voice parts are welcome, especially sopranos.
The choir meets:
- Monday nights from 7:00 to 9:30 PM

Reign of Sound, formed in 2003 and directed by Richard Greig, performs a wide variety of choral music both sacred and secular, familiar and hot off the presses. Reign of Sound regularly performs repertoire from a variety of historical periods, from as early as the Renaissance right up to the most contemporary works. Members of the choir are given the opportunity to showcase their individual talents as instrumental and vocal soloists at each concert.

National Youth Choir 2010 will take place in Saskatchewan (in conjunction with Podium 2010), 8-23 May 2010. This acclaimed youth choir, consisting of a quartet of singers from every province in Canada, will gather for a week-long residency with guest conductor Dr. Victoria Meredith of the University of Western Ontario before embarking on a tour of the province of Saskatchewan, culminating in a gala final performance at Podium 2010 in Saskatoon.
If you are between the ages of 18 and 25 as of May 2010, you could be part of the NationalYout Choir. All travel, accommodation and meal costs will be covered by the NYC organizing committee. Audition and tuition fees may apply.
