"We sang to a packed
audience and received an immediate standing ovation, quite the
experience that we'll all remember for a lifetime!", says Amanda Buhse.

The Coffee Cantata
2010

What happens when you cant get your
daily fix, coffee or otherwise?!
Music by J.S. Bach
Directed by Donna Fletcher
Featuring: Naomi Forman (Lieschen) David Klassen (Schlendrian) Darren
Martens (Taylor the Latte Boy) Verna Wiebe, Piano
(An Equity-Approved Co-op Production)
StarBachs: The Coffee Cantata is the caffeinated version of J.S. Bachs
mini-masterpiece, revamped for the modern world.
Sung in English and set in everyones favourite coffee house, its Bach
like you’ve never seen it before! The professional cast and crew
is made up of faculty from Manitoba’s top music schools.
The Story: Schlendrian (David Klassen) is an old-fashioned sort of guy,
who detests living todays fast-paced world characterized by
coffee-to-go. Meanwhile, his sister Lieschen (Naomi Forman) is
hopelessly addicted to coffee and has a huge crush on her barista,
Taylor the Latte Boy (Darren Martens). The show contains all the music
of Bachs so-called "Kaffee Kantate" (Its original title was "Schweigt
stille, plaudert nicht" B.W.V 211) plus additional songs glorifying our
favourite morning drink.
General Running time: 50 minutes.
Tickets: $10 General
admission, available starting June 21, 2010. To order, please call the
