Mission Statement

MCA provides resources and creates opportunities for all Manitobans to experience and enjoy choral music.

Manitoba Choral Association seeks to accomplish its mission statement by:

  • presenting choral festivals and workshops
  • promoting choral opportunities for people of all ages and abilities
  • providing resource personnel and advisory services to choral groups
  • encouraging the publication and presentation of choral music by Manitoba composers
  • providing opportunities for presentation of Canadian choral works
  • encouraging inter-provincial and international cooperation in the choral arts

Robert Neufeld, Executive Director

Robert holds a Bachelor of Arts (Music) degree from the University of Winnipeg and a Bachelor of Religious Studies (Choral conducting concentration) degree from Mennonite Brethren Bible College, now known as Canadian Mennonite University.
He is busy as accompanist (piano and organ) for weddings, funerals, festivals, grad recitals and church music events. He is a long-time member of Canzona (Winnipeg’s premiere baroque ensemble), the CMU Alumni Choir and has sung occasionally with the Winnipeg Singers, the Winnipeg Philharmonic Choir, Renaissance Voices and Ecco. Robert serves as the Executive Director of the Manitoba Choral Association, the Foundation for Choral Music in Manitoba as well as organist at First Mennonite Church.

  • Provincial Honour Choirs - a weekend of singing under exceptional conductors for over 30 years

  • A foundation with over $100,000 to "Help Keep Manitoba Singing" forever
  • Bert Kroeker Scholarship for students of choral music education
  • Frances Seaton Choral Composition Competition 
  • Noteworthy - a newsletter issued at least twice a year to keep members informed of their choral community
  • An online Calendar of choral concerts
  • Support for 4 singers to attend the National Youth Choir every two years
  • Professional development workshops
  • Collaboration with the Manitoba Music Educators' Association
  • A network of choral communities throughout the province
