Michael Zaugg, conductor
Resurrectional Divine Liturgy for Male Voices, celebrated as an authentic church service with Metropolitan Lawrence Huculak officiating
Combined male chorus of over 55 voices featuring singers from Pro Coro Canada, Axios Men's Ensemble, Ukrainian Male Chorus, and professional singers from Ukraine, under the direction of Michael Zaugg.
This is a unique opportunity to hear the Easter Divine Liturgy celebrated in an authentic church setting by a Combined Male Chorus of 55 voices, providing strength and timbre as you have never heard before. The composer, Albertan Fr. John Sembrat (a Basilian priest-monk), has produced a magnum opus that "continues the better traditions of composed liturgies in the Ukrainian Church that go back to Dyletsky in the 17th century. On the other hand, this is also a contemporary sacred musical work, marked with its composer’s own creative specificity. [... The] staggeringly beautiful ... combined male choir, under the direction of the outstanding choirmaster Michael Zaugg [... present] the author’s musical imagery and experience with profound feeling and mastery."
World Premiere CD recording will also be on sale.
