Winnipeg Singers Concert features Jewish Composers

WINNIPEG SINGERS CONDUCTOR YURI KLAZ INVITES YOU TO THE FIRST CONCERT OF THEIR 42ND SEASON, FEATURING CHORAL MUSIC OF JEWISH COMPOSERS.

What better venue for this event but the beautiful sanctuary of Shaarey Zedek Synagogue?

We feature the Canadian premiere of "Songs in a Time of War" by Winnipeg composer Sid Robinovitch.  Based on the writings of Israeli poet Elisha Porat, a veteran of three Israeli wars, this work deals with different facets of war; a reminiscence of happier times when lovers meet, the slaughter of innocents at a pollluted spring, waiting at home for the return of a soldier, and remembering the friends that have been lost.  We are honoured to be presenting this premiere performance at Shaarey Zedek in this Remembrance season.

Also on the program will be "Chichester Psalms" (Leonard Bernstein), selections from "Songs from Shakespeare" (Harry Freedman), "American Folksongs "(Aaron Copland) and "Sing Unto the Lord a New Song" (Sril Irving Glick).

Tickets for this special event are available at McNally Robinson, at the door, or by calling 204-944-9100.
Adults: $30  /  Seniors (65+) $25  /  30 & under $15  /  6 & under free
