Camerata Nova with flutes, fiddles... and spoons!

Concert: Nova France

Camerata Nova is proud to partner with the vibrant and multi-talented Montréal instrumental group, Skye Consort, to bring to life the rich musical history of France, Nouvelle-France, Acadia, Quebec and Franco-Manitoba. Nova France will take place in Église Précieux-Sang (200 Kenny Street in St. Boniface) on Saturday, February 21, 2015 at 7:30 p.m. and on Sunday, February 22, 2015 at 3:00 p.m.

Enjoy an exciting array of early French songs, glorious Renaissance motets and vibrant New World folk music, including a few “chansons à répondre” and arrangements of Métis tunes by Andrew Balfour. Serious, light, mysterious and toe-tapping, Nova France will offer an ever-changing palette of rhythm, style, instrumental and vocal sound.

We are especially pleased that the concert is part of the program of the 46th annual Festival du Voyageur – a first for a classical group! Join the party and come to Nova France wearing historical or voyageur-inspired attire!

Audience members are also invited to perform in our Spoon Choir! Spoons sporting the Camerata Nova logo will be available for purchase at the concert or bring your own spoons! Also, Festival du Voyageur pass holders will get $5 off the regular price of tickets.

Tickets (adults $28, seniors $23, students $12) are available at McNally Robinson Booksellers, through our website and at the door, as well as by phone (204.918.4547). High school students can also get tickets for $5 through the eyeGo to the Arts program.
